The Role of Business Management Information Systems in Hospital: A Literature Review
Main Article Content
Abstract
Business Management Information Systems (BMIS) have become essential tools in the transformation of hospital operations, enabling efficiency, transparency, and informed decision-making. This literature review aims to synthesize the current body of research on the implementation and impact of BMIS in diverse hospital settings. Drawing from multiple academic databases and recent publications between 2015 and 2025, the review identifies key themes such as system integration, strategic alignment, and institutional accountability. Findings suggest that BMIS enhances hospital performance by streamlining business processes, supporting financial management, and enabling better governance. However, challenges remain, including infrastructure gaps, limited digital literacy among healthcare workers, and fragmented data systems. The review underscores the need for integrated approaches that combine technology, management, and policy to maximize the potential of BMIS. Future research should focus on empirical impact evaluations, comparative analyses across hospital types, and the role of emerging technologies in expanding BMIS functionalities.
